Naaima and Kaleem’s fun-filled pakistani wedding events took place at Louisville Marriott East.
This was our first first visiting Louisville and we are so glad we did. The couple invited us to cover their muslim nikkah ceremony, mehndi sangeet function and wedding celebration. Everything was carefully planned down to every detail!
Destination wedding events can be physically draining but we really felt the energized for this gorgeous Pakistani Pashto wedding. Here is how they celebrated their big!
Louisville Muslim Nikah
May is a beautiful month to get married and we were blessed with some amazing spring color on the Nikah day.
What is a Nikah?
The nikah ceremony is the islamic marriage. It is also a unforced marriage contract between the bride and groom. The nikah is meant to be a simple and  short ceremony that involves:
- The couple
- The person appointed to facilitate the ceremony
- Two witnesses
- Mahr – mandatory sum of wealth that groom must give to bride.
- Wali – the bride’s lawful male guardian (for example, the father or brother)
For Naaima and Kaleem’s nikah ceremony, the day started at the Wildwood Country Club. It was a small islamic marriage ceremony with the couple’s family and close friends. When I write “small” ceremony, I mean about 100 people! Yes, South Asian weddings are larger in scale than western weddings. It is very hard to narrow down the guest list for Indian and Pakistani weddings!
As I mentioned before, the nikah is a very simple and direct muslim marriage. So, the religious pact was completed in 15 minutes. Both bride and groom verbally confirmed their marriage in front of their loved ones.
After the nikah, I took the couple out a few portraits. We were blessed with a break in the rain forecast. Also, there were so many amazing blooming trees. My favorite photo was the one below! I placed the newlywed couple under a cherry blossom tree and it was the MONEY SHOT! Honestly, this candid moment is one of my favorite spring wedding poses.
Louisville Pakistani Mehndi Event
The following day, the Louisville couple celebrated the Mehndi Party. A Pakistani mehndi party is different from other South Asian mehndi events. The mehndi for a Pakistani wedding is the dance party. You can read more about what to expect at a Mehndi Party here.
Naaima and Kaleem had a very colorful mehndi event. I absolutely loved the mehndi decor for the event because it transformed the Louisville wedding venue into a festive secret garden. The lit up LED dance floor also boosted the energy of the celebration during the choreographed dances.
Louisville Marriott East – Wedding Reception
The wedding reception also known as the (Baraat, Shaadi, or Rukhsati) was at Louisville Marriott East. In contrast to the mehndi party, the wedding reception decor was a combination creams, peaches and golds. It was a very elegant and timeless look so I hope you get some great wedding design ideas.
