Jaggo Night is a super fun and exciting part of Punjabi Sikh wedding traditions!

Lettie and Herman always imagined having a Cabo wedding so they held their celebration at Paradisus los Cabos resort. The entire multicultural event was perfectly planned by Denise Lillie Engagements. Denise has been planning South Asian and multicultural weddings for over a decade. Therefore, she knew how to help the couple honor Punjabi wedding traditions, organize an efficient wedding timeline and keep the wedding party happy throughout the week long wedding events.

The Jaggo literally means “Wake Up”! It’s a party that happens the night before the wedding and it’s all about celebrating the upcoming union of two people in love.

One of the best places to have a Jaggo Night party is Paradisus los Cabos in Mexico! This is because it’s a beautiful and sunny place, perfect for a destination Indian wedding. Plus, it’s a great way to mix traditional Punjabi culture with a fun and tropical location.

But what exactly happens at a Jaggo Night party?

Well, there’s lots of music and dancing, of course!

But one of the most important parts is the start of the Jaggo. The family comes in with a decorated oil lamp on their heads all while dancing fervently and sining loudly. You will also see other wedding guests beating a basket with a pole while dancing to Punjabi banghra music. This is all in an effort to energize people and get them dancing.

What’s more is that the food at Lettie and Herman’s jaggo party was a unique fusion of Latin and Indian food. There are also lots of delicious Punjabi foods served at the party, like butter chicken, chana masala and let’s not forget: tacos! Yum! Of course, the sweets like gulab jamun and churros did not disappoint.

But the best part about a Jaggo Night party was capturing the happy couple enjoying the night with their family and friends in beautiful Cabo San Lucas. It’s a night of joy and laughter that everyone will remember forever.

At the end of the evening, the entire wedding group enjoyed fireworks and watched Lettie’s choora ceremony. The choora ceremony is where the bride puts on red bangles in anticipation of the Sikh wedding ceremony (Anand karaj).
