Dipika + Yash: How They Met

They say if two people are meant to be together, then no matter how much we deny it, in the end they will find each other.

Our story began with friendship. We were friends long before we began dating. Neither of us had ever imagined that we would end up together.

We reconnected in 2019, hanging out with friends, attending birthday parties and Superbowl’s, and studying at Starbucks together. Then one day, on June 7th, 2020, Yash texted me, asking me to dinner.

We had our first date at Buffalo Wild Wings. We instantly connected that night. Conversations were flowing and next thing we knew, it was 3:00 am and we were still talking.

Since then we’ve had endless long nights and uncountable conversations.

The Engagement Photo Outfits

Dipika and Yash chose a stunning and elegant outfit that was perfect for a winter engagement portrait session. Originally, Dipika and Yash were planning on wearing two different outfits. Ultimately, they chose to go with the black all gown and a green velvet suit. These engagement outfits were stunning!!!!! I highly recommend engagement portrait outfits that are solid colored and that compliment each other.

Furthermore, I know the photos look like the weather was warm. However, it was far from it. The wind was very strong and we had to stop to take a couple of breaks for coffee and warmth.

The two lovebirds were troopers and brought a lot of energy and fun to their session.

I absolutely loved their sense of humor and congeniality. Having fun despite the cold temps and making the most of the time is so important to having a successful engagement photo session.

Planning Tips for Winter Chicago Engagement Photos

Winter engagement photos in Chicago need to be planned out differently than in the warmer months. Here are some important tips to keep in mind:

1. Plan your shoot around the sun setting early so that you have enough time to get daylight and golden hour portraits.
2. Allocate 3 hours for a downtown shoot so that you have enough time to get portraits in several different Chicago engagement photo locations.
3. Choose locations that are a mix of indoor and outdoor backgrounds so that there is variety in your engagement session.
4. Bring lots of hand lotion and balm! Your hands and lips are the first to get dry and cracked!
5. If you plan on wearing clothes that are more revealing, bring a coat or blanket that you can throw on your shoulders in between shoots.
