Maham and Daniyal’s Mehndi | Palmer House

The Palmer House Mehndi Party was the first event Maham and Daniyal had at this iconic hotel in downtown Chicago. The entire hotel is steeped in history and stunning architecture.

Built in 1871, Palmer House is the oldest hotel in Chicago. From hosting celebrities to dignitaries to being a favorite spot for locals, this Chicago venue has seen it all. But don’t let the age fool you, Palmer House has a wonderful array of modern amenities perfectly fit for Chicago Indian and Pakistani weddings.

For that reason, Maham and Daniyal celebrated their mehndi party at this historic Chicago wedding venue.

Mehndi Outfit Details

Maham was just a stunning Pakistani bride on her mehndi day. She wore a burnt orange lehenga paired with a vibrant teal dupatta. The delicate and intricate embroidery on her blouse had hints of magenta peaking through the stunning gold sequin floral patterns.

For her mehndi bridal hair look, she chose to add a dash of magenta roses to her voluminous mermaid braid. I actually love side braids with floral accents. This hairstyle is the perfect mehndi bridal look.

Maham chose a dewy neutral look for her mehndi party makeup. I think this was a great choice because there was already so much color on her mehndi outfit.

Daniyal wore a teal embroidered vest and cream colored kurta pant set. I loved that they had chose a bold color like teal. It definitely is a color I don’t see a lot at a mehndi party.

Mehndi Party Decor at Palmer House

The jewel toned mehndi decor was set up in the Red Lacquer Room at the Palmer House. This particular Chicago wedding event venue has a bold punch of red all around the room. It honestly is a wedding venue that has so much character that you could get away with even a minimalist design.

However, Maham and Daniyal chose to use the ambiance of the room as a starting point to create a Arabian nights themed mehndi party. I loved the colorful draped curtains, multi-colored moroccan lanterns and bazaar style carts displaying the wedding guest favors.

The Mehndi Party Begins!

If you are a guest at a mehndi party, the first main event that will kick off the entire night are the entrances. It’s not just any ordinary entrance! Both the bride and groom enter separately for the mehndi party event. Each are accompanied by their family and friends in a raucous and high energy welcome.

As you can see from the photos below, these entrances are lots of fun to watch and photograph. Daniyal really showed his dancing skills off! Maham entered with her close male cousins and friends under a beautiful floral canopy.

Mehndi Party Dances were LIT!

One thing you should definitely look forward to is the dance program after dinner. Maham’s close family and friends choreographed for months and planned a series of amazing Bollywood dance performances to WOW the wedding couple.

At one point in the performances, Daniyal and Maham surprised the wedding guests with their own Bollywood dance. It was so much fun to photograph their families reactions and the wedding couple having this cute moment together.

Once the DJ got everyone on the dance floor, the party seemed like it got a second wind. The entire room joined in for open dance with the bride and groom. We captured some amazing candid moments that I know our couple will cherish.
