Hello Friends! We are so excited to show some wedding highlights of Fahad and Ammara’s valima reception. For those of you who do not know what a valima is, this is traditionally the reception hosted by the groom’s side after the bride and groom have tied the knot. It is held after the main wedding day ( or Shaadi). South Asian muslims practice this tradition to celebrate the couple’s first night as husband and wife. While in a South Asian wedding, the bride ( or dulhan) usually wears red on her main day, the valima day outfit can be any color.
I loved what Ammara wore for her valima reception outfit. The gorgeous bright pink lehenga was a wonderful pop to a cold winter day. Her bridal outfit had intricate zardozi embroidery, pearls, and crystals which sparkled in the winter sun. From her bridal jewelry to her bridal makeup done by Chicago makeup artist, Nadia Tikki, she was a stunning vision! Not to mention, Ammara’s green eyes were spellbinding and her quiet elegance just made us fall in love with her.
Fahad, her husband, wore a dashing black suit with a pink tie to coordinate their look. We loved their down to earth attitude and despite the Chicago cold and wind, they were excited to get some fun wedding portraits near the Chicago skyline and museum campus.
This outdoor Chicago wedding photography is a great example that there are wonderful locations in the city and suburbs to take wedding portraits. We hope you get some inspiration from these photos!
